Back To Blogging

It was during our fifth anniversary that my wife and I decided that we wanted to go to Hawaii.

You know, someday. Way out there in the future.  In marriage, you learn to set goals well in advance, because the disappointment can then dissipate with the passing of time. The theory is to not crush dreams right there, in the moment, with your big steel-toed boot of denial, but rather to nurture the dream in its fluffy goose-down bed and later, when nobody is looking, smother it with its own pillow while it sleeps. My God, anything to stop the crying of the dream.

It’s these type of marital gems that you people need to be taking notes on.

But sometimes the dream is kind of like the Terminator and it won’t die even if you crush the dream in one of those humongous industrial press things or, you know, like hit it with a semi or something? Or…or like pour liquid nitrogen on it or whatever? Man, that dream is so cool when it kind of reforms and stuff. And, like molds back into its former shape. Seriously, totally awesome.

Where was I?

Oh, righto. Hawaii.

So anyway. We went.

wow. beautiful pictures.

you did come back, didn't you? or is this "back to blogging - from hawaii!"

the thing that blows my mind, when I went to Iowa I took almost the exact same pictures. Except, instead of waterfalls, I got corn silos. And instead of turtles, there was a potato bug floating in some dude's beer. But really the parallels are almost creepy.

nice work old man. thanks for sharing paradise.

What amazing pictures! They definitely brought back memories. My husband and I went to Maui on our honeymoon. My favorite thing by far was the bide ride down Haleokola. Amazing! My second favorite thing was the black sand beach on the way to the seven pools.

And let me just say from first hand experience that you really don't want to surf/swim upside down. I got a fractured vertebrate as a result. Did you take the pictures of those signs at Makena beach?

I'm glad you were able to finally make it there. Looks like you enjoyed yourselves to the fullest.

I'm glad you

Amazing snaps; quite a ride you must have had!

uh-mazing vacation! Glad you followed the dream.

I had no idea there were flowers or palm trees in Hawaii. Thanks for the info.

I'm just hatin' because I'm jealous. I need a vacation...

Dude, evidently I didn't stop it fast enough to fix my hating = hatin' and the old post got through.

I just couldn't live with myself for actually typing out "hating" in full... When did I get old?

k - Not just flowers and palm trees! Rainbows and waterfalls too! Did I not make that clear with my 8 MILLION photos!??! Not that I'm hating.

My dream always runs around dressed like a cop showing pictures of an adolescent. "Have you seen this boy?" my dream asks.

Either that or my dream runs for governor of California. And wins.

Great pictures.

Glad you and your lovely wife finally got the dream...

You had a great subject, but you're pretty good with a camera too. Nice pics. I'm glad you had a great time. My wife and I want to hit Hawaii in a few years.

Oh, and how 'bout a "taking a month off" post next time? :P

Wow, that was a sweet plain ride.

Nobody gets my jokes.

CW: we get the jokes, they're just not funny. :)

i'm jealous of your rad vacation. :)

Looks like the most fun you could possibly have without asking someone to grab their ankles. Which you did right after the hula dancing, right?

Looks fabulous. I have not yet been to Hawaii. But I will someday soon.

Beautiful pictures! People say that the landscape in Hawaii and Iceland are very similar but I don't really see it. For one we don't really have trees or those exotic looking flowers nor the creapy looking spiders.

Although I guess it's because of the whole volcanic element, the lava and the black beaches. Oh and yeah, we have our shares of waterfalls - you'd like it.

Nice pics, glad you had a great vacation and most important, glad that you are back too!

Miss your blogs!

i died laughing at the one titled "cocky." i have never seen such a bad-ass looking rooster.

love tha photos.
